Descripción

ADGRB3, known as BAI3, is a GPCR highly expressed in the brain, where it regulates synaptic development and neuronal connectivity. It plays a role in dendritic arborization and synapse formation, supporting neuronal circuitry and communication. ADGRB3 interacts with proteins involved in synaptic organization and phagocytosis, contributing to the removal of apoptotic neurons and cellular debris. Dysregulation of ADGRB3 has been associated with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions due to its role in synaptic refinement. Additionally, it is implicated in vascular homeostasis, although its angiogenic functions are less defined compared to ADGRB1. ADGRB3’s dual involvement in synaptic and vascular processes highlights its importance in neurovascular coupling and overall brain health.
