Descripción
Cleavage stimulation factor subunit 3 (CSTF3) is another essential element of the CstF complex, playing a vital role in 3' end cleavage and polyadenylation of pre-mRNAs, a process critical for mRNA maturation, stability, and export. CSTF3 functions as a homodimer and interacts with CSTF1 and CSTF2 to form the fully functional CstF complex, which participates in the recognition of cleavage sites on pre-mRNAs. It contains WD40 domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions, ensuring the stability and activity of the complex during the 3' end processing. CSTF3 is ubiquitously expressed across various tissues, highlighting its fundamental role in mRNA biogenesis. The CSTF3 gene undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in multiple transcript variants that encode different isoforms, potentially adapting its function to specific cellular contexts.
