| Note | THIS PRODUCT IS FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN DIAGNOSTIC, THERAPEUTIC OR COSMETIC PROCEDURES. NOT FOR HUMAN OR ANIMAL CONSUMPTION. To keep the original salt concentration, we recommend reconstituting to the original concentration prior to lyophilization (see Concentration) in ddH2O. If a lower concentration is required, dilute in 10 mM PBS, pH 7.4. If a higher concentration is required, the product can be reconstituted directly in 10 mM PBS, pH 7.4, though please note that this will change the overall salt concentration. The stock concentration should be between 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. Concentration: Prior to lyophilization: 400 µg/ml |
Descripción
ACTG2 encodes gamma-actin, a highly conserved cytoskeletal protein primarily expressed in smooth muscle cells. It plays a vital role in maintaining the structure and contractility of smooth muscle tissues in organs such as the gastrointestinal tract and bladder. As part of the actin family, ACTG2 contributes to cellular processes like motility, intracellular transport, and mechanical force generation. Mutations in ACTG2 have been associated with disorders such as visceral myopathy, characterized by severe dysfunction of smooth muscle contractility. This protein is essential for the proper functioning of muscle-based physiological activities and demonstrates high evolutionary conservation due to its critical cellular roles.

Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility, and maintenance of the cytoskeleton. In vertebrates, three main groups of actin isoforms, alpha, beta and gamma have been identified. The alpha actins are found in muscle tissues and are a major constituent of the contractile apparatus. The beta and gamma actins co-exist in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton, and as mediators of internal cell motility. Actin, gamma 2, encoded by this gene, is a smooth muscle actin found in enteric tissues.
