Descripción
Butyrophilin like 3 (BTNL3) is a member of the butyrophilin family involved in immune system modulation, particularly in the context of antigen-presenting cells and T cell activation. BTNL3 is structurally similar to butyrophilin-like proteins known for regulating γδ T cells, which play a critical role in innate immunity and tumor surveillance. It is expressed in epithelial tissues and is thought to influence immune responses at barrier sites. Although its specific interactions and signaling mechanisms are less well characterized than other butyrophilin-like proteins, BTNL3 is of interest for its potential role in immune checkpoint regulation and its implications for cancer immunotherapy. Further studies aim to explore its role in immune evasion and its therapeutic utility as a target for enhancing anti-tumor immunity.
