Observed MW
Calculated MW: 51.1 kDa Observed MW (SDS-PAGE): 58 kDa Possible reasons why the actual band size differs from the predicted band size: 1. Splice variants. Alternative splicing may create different sized proteins from the same gene. 2. Relative charge. The composition of amino acids may affect the charge of the protein. 3. Post-translational modification. Phosphorylation, glycoslyation, methylation etc. may affect the band size. 4. Post-translational cleavage. Many proteins are synthesised as pro-proteins, and then cleaved to give the active form. 5. Polymerisation of the target protein. Dimerisation, multimerisation etc. will increase the band size observed.

THIS PRODUCT IS FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY. NOT FOR USE IN DIAGNOSTIC, THERAPEUTIC OR COSMETIC PROCEDURES. NOT FOR HUMAN OR ANIMAL CONSUMPTION.
To keep the original salt concentration, we recommend reconstituting to the original concentration prior to lyophilization (see Concentration) in ddH2O. If a lower concentration is required, dilute in PBS, pH 7.4. If a higher concentration is required, the product can be reconstituted directly in PBS, pH 7.4, though please note that this will change the overall salt concentration. The stock concentration should be between 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex.
Concentration: Prior to lyophilization: 200 µg/ml

Descripción

SERPINF1, also known as pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF), is a member of the serpin (serine protease inhibitor) family, though it has unique properties distinct from classical serpins. Unlike most serpins, SERPINF1 does not function as a typical protease inhibitor but is instead a multifunctional protein with potent anti-angiogenic, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory effects. First identified in the pigment epithelium of the eye, it has since been found in a variety of tissues and is now recognized as a crucial player in many biological processes, including the inhibition of abnormal blood vessel growth and tissue protection. SERPINF1 is highly expressed in the eye, particularly in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and other neural tissues. It is most famous for its role in ocular health, but its functions extend to other organs, such as the liver, heart, skin, and brain.

Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor / PEDF (SERPINF1) Antibody

Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor / PEDF (SERPINF1) Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against SERPINF1. Pigment epithelium-derived growth factor (PEDF), also known as EPC-1 (early population doubling level cDNA-1), is a glycoprotein found naturally in the normal eye. PEDF has reported neuroprotective and differentiation properties and is secreted in abundance by retinal pigment epithelium cells. It belongs to the serine protease inhibitor (Serpin) superfamily and has been reported to inhibit angiogenesis and proliferation of several cell types. The pooling of PEDF within the interphotoreceptor matrix places this molecule in a prime physical location to affect the underlying neural retina. Additionally, PEDF induces neuronal differentiation and promotes survival of neurons of the central nervous system from degeneration caused by serum withdrawal or glutamate cytotoxicity.
