Descripción
SIGLEC1, also known as sialoadhesin, is a member of the Siglec family of sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectins. It is primarily expressed on macrophages and functions in cell-cell interactions, particularly in the immune system. SIGLEC1 recognizes sialylated glycoconjugates on the surface of other cells, facilitating phagocytosis and immune surveillance. It is highly expressed in inflammatory and infectious conditions, playing a role in pathogen recognition.
