Description
Sucrose Assay Kit is an assay kit designed for the detection and quantification of Sucrose concentrations in plant tissue using a spectrophotometer. Sucrose in plant tissue is hydrolyzed to glucose and fructose under acidic and heat conditions. 5-hydroxymethylfurfural can be synthesized from fructose under acid conditions, the concentration of which can be determined by measuring the ultraviolet absorption of 5-hydroxymethyl furfural. Glucose must be dissimilated into ketose structure and reduced to obtain 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, but the rate of isomerization of glucose to ketose is very slow. Therefore, the ultraviolet absorption corresponding to glucose is much smaller than fructose.
