Spliceosome associated factor 1, recruiter of U4/U6.U5 tri-snRNP (SART1) is a key protein involved in pre-mRNA splicing, a critical step in eukaryotic gene expression SART1 facilitates the recruitment of the U4/U6.U5 tri-snRNP complex to the spliceosome during the spliceosome assembly process, ensuring accurate splicing of pre-mRNA into mature mRNA It is essential for maintaining cellular RNA homeostasis and regulating alternative splicing events that diversify the proteome SART1 also participates in cellular stress responses, where it modulates RNA processing and repair pathways Dysregulation of SART1 has been linked to cancer, particularly in tumor cells where aberrant splicing events promote oncogenic gene expression and survival pathways Additionally, SART1 has roles in immune system function, as it interacts with viral RNAs during infections, contributing to the host antiviral response Its importance in RNA splicing, gene regulation, and disease underscores its essential role in cellular and molecular biology
