Descripción
ADAMTSL3 belongs to the ADAMTS-like family and is involved in ECM maintenance and fibrillin microfibril assembly. It is structurally similar to ADAMTS proteins but lacks enzymatic activity, instead functioning as a structural regulator of the ECM. ADAMTSL3 interacts with fibrillin-1 and latent TGF-β binding proteins, thus influencing TGF-β signaling pathways, which are crucial for tissue growth and repair. Alterations in ADAMTSL3 expression have been implicated in connective tissue disorders and diseases affecting the skeletal system. Recent studies suggest its role in the regulation of tissue remodeling processes and its association with ECM-related pathologies, including fibrosis.
