Descripción
GCNT2 pseudogene 1 (GCNT6) is a predicted non-functional copy of the GCNT2 gene, which encodes a glucosaminyl (N-acetyl) transferase involved in glycosylation processes. While pseudogenes typically lack coding potential due to mutations or regulatory sequence alterations, they can still exert biological effects, such as acting as regulatory RNA molecules or affecting the expression of their functional counterparts. GCNT6 is likely transcribed at low levels or inactive, with its specific role remaining poorly understood. Its presence might indicate evolutionary remnants or potential roles in gene regulation or chromatin structure.
