Nectin cell adhesion molecule 3 (NECTIN3) is predominantly expressed in neural and testicular tissues, where it is essential for processes such as synapse formation and spermatogenesis. It forms trans-heterophilic interactions with other nectin family members, enabling precise cell-cell communication critical for the development and maintenance of specialized tissues. NECTIN3 is also involved in neuronal plasticity, where its expression affects synaptic strength and connectivity in the central nervous system.
