Descripción
Interferon Alpha 13 (IFNA13) contributes to the antiviral defense by acting as a part of the type I interferon family. It is produced in response to viral infections or other immune triggers, such as recognition of viral nucleic acids by pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). IFNA13 engages IFNAR to activate downstream signaling pathways, leading to the expression of interferon-stimulated genes. These genes orchestrate various immune responses, including the inhibition of viral replication, enhancement of antigen presentation, and activation of immune effector cells like NK cells. While IFNA13 shares functional similarities with other type I interferons, its specific role in immune responses may differ depending on the context, such as the nature of the pathogen or the tissue involved.
