Descripción
LRIG3 is another member of the LRIG family, with structural domains similar to LRIG1 and LRIG2. It is widely expressed in neural tissues, the vascular system, and other organs, where it influences cell signaling, development, and tissue organization. LRIG3 is thought to play a role in neuronal development by regulating axon guidance and synaptic plasticity. LRIG3 interacts with RTKs and extracellular matrix proteins, modulating signaling pathways related to growth and differentiation. LRIG3 is also involved in vascular remodeling and angiogenesis. Dysregulation of LRIG3 has been linked to congenital malformations and vascular diseases, as well as certain cancers, where it can promote or suppress tumorigenesis depending on the context. Further research is needed to clarify its exact roles in health and disease.
