Affects cell proliferation probably by repressing translation of specific mRNAs. Maintains the germ cell lineage by suppressing both Bax-dependent and-independent apoptotic pathways. Essential in the early stage embryo to protect the migrating primordial germ cells(PGCs) from apoptosis.
