Descripción
SIGLEC12 is an atypical Siglec that has lost its sialic acid-binding capacity in humans due to evolutionary mutations. It is expressed in some epithelial tissues and immune cells. Although its function remains poorly understood, SIGLEC12 has been linked to inflammation and cancer, where its altered expression might promote tumor progression.
